Okay, let’s admit it, the holidays are very stressful.  Celebrants scramble through stores looking for the perfect gift knowing that as time gets closer to the holidays supplies dwindle and panic can set in!  The staff suggests taking some time for your self and yes, check out a good book to read. As they say at all the retail spots, we have something for everyone but here, you can have it all for free!  Come on in and re-read a classic…when was the last time you read Gift of the Magi by O’Henry?  I know that we have all seen …

Autumn means it’s soup time!

As the temperatures drop, the phrase “Soup is good food” runs through my mind.  There is nothing like a delicious bowl of soup to warm you up on a chilly day.  The library has at least three books dedicated to only soup recipes:  Maine-Course Soups & Stews by Dorothy Ivens, Saved by Soup by Judith Barrett, and Lee Bailey’s Soup Meals by Lee Bailey.  Of course any general cookbook will also have great section of soup recipes.  They are so varied in scope, can be so easy to throw together, and can be stretched to feed many. What am I reading?

Many of our favorite movies are based on even better books.  Though I am happy that one of my favorite authors manages to have many of his titles made into pretty good movies, I really hope that folks continue to read Dennis Lehane.  Once you read one of his books, you will wonder what took you so long to find him. Their facebook page was very helpful for the Young Adult on new books.  Another website is www.Teenreads.com. This website has a fabulous layout for teens. …
